Nasiha Active Citizenship lessons can be used as a researching tool for concepts and themes studied in PSHE, RE and Citizenship. It is not necessary to teach the whole active citizenship lesson. Schools have used lessons on ´Companionship´ for social harmony, ´Community Work and Elections´ on how Islam recognises the importance of democracy and ´Sacredness of Life´ in teaching sanctity of life.
NEF is currently preparing it´s active citizenship teaching materials for Key Stage 2. These material can be used in primary mainstream schools as well as independent faith schools. The Nasiha active citizenship lessons are islamically rich in content and are appropriate where most/all students are from an Islamic background.
NEF Key Stage 3/4 active citizenship lessons are in their finals stages of completion with guidance notes, powerpoints and pdf lesson slides.
NEF are also drafting active citizenship lessons with contributions from other faiths based on a QCA scheme of work for both primary and secondary school humanities department.
Teachers can email NEF to request training, preparing new materials and purchasing friendly active citizenship posters for display.
