Meaning of Nasiha

'ad-Deen an-Nasiha'

ad-Deen: The meaning of this word is ´religion´.

an-Nasiha: This means to ´give sincere advice that is rooted in rightness and harmony´. The meaning contains a desire for what is good and beneficial. The word is derived from the root ´Na´ ´Sa´ ´Ha´, which means to purify something and make it clean. It can also mean to stitch something in order to repair or rectify it. In this Prophetic Tradition, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, repeated it three times to stress its importance. The translation of the Tradition is ´the foundations of religion lie upon an effort to be sincere in ones´ faith, words, and actions and to have a desire to guide others towards good´

Active Citizenship (ACP) >>

Active Citizenship Programme of Study (ACP) has been developed by Nasiha through a joint effort of many Imams and teachers. Islamic traditions related to values of citizenship were researched and analysed. The resources were then developed and a community consultation process resulted in amendments and further enrichment. Nasiha ACP lessons are now often referred to as Islamic citizenship in the curriculum.

Beautiful Character >>

Based on the Quranic verse that ‘ verily in the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, we have an excellent example (to follow) ’ , the Beautiful Character series of lessons traces the personality of the Prophet through significant events from the Beginning of Creation, Day of Covenants, through to Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and Jesus. and finally to his life and message. His excellent character is highlighted and reflected through key events during his life and will help young people to understand how to develop a more balanced and moderate outlook of what Islam teaches, the significance of which made the Prophet to be mentioned as a &lsquo Mercy to the Worlds &rsquo (Quran).
